Live resin, distillate, melted diamonds: what the words mean

Three products on our shelf are described as live resin, melted diamonds and liquid moon rocks. Those are not marketing synonyms for strong. They are names for different production processes, and knowing which is which is the difference between choosing a product and choosing an adjective.

These words describe process, not potency

Every term in this guide answers the question "how was this extract made?" None of them answers "how strong is it?" — and a label that implies otherwise is doing marketing rather than description.

We do not publish potency figures for any of these products, because our product data does not carry them. What we can tell you is what each name refers to and which of our products carries it.

Live resin

Live resin refers to extract made from cannabis that was frozen fresh rather than dried and cured first. The word live is doing the work: it describes the state of the plant material going in.

Two of our products are built on it. The Frozen Fields Formula X holds 3.5 grams of live resin extract in a rechargeable disposable, and its blend is listed as Delta 8, THC-A, THC-P and HHC. The TRE House Live Resin Gummies are the edible version — 700mg of THC-P across 20 gummies at 35mg each.

Melted diamonds

Diamonds are crystalline cannabinoid structures. Melted diamonds describes those crystals brought back into a liquid state so they can fill a device.

The Muha Meds Melted Diamonds THC-A Gen 3 is the one we carry: 3500mg of THC-A melted diamonds concentrate, in a disposable with three voltage settings and a preheat option. The voltage settings are worth noting — a thicker extract is the usual reason a device offers them.

Liquid moon rocks

Moon rocks traditionally means flower coated and layered with concentrate. Liquid moon rocks is the extract-only expression of that idea, formulated to fill a device rather than to be broken up by hand.

The DOZO Liquid Moon Rocks disposable holds 3.5g and lists its cannabinoids as THCA, HHC, Delta 9 and THCP. It runs dual mesh coils, is draw-activated with a preheat, and recharges over USB-C. DOZO states the product is third-party lab tested; we repeat that because it is a statement about process, and we do not quote a number from a report we do not publish.

Distillate, and why nothing here is sold as it

Distillate is extract refined to isolate a specific cannabinoid, stripping most of the rest of the plant out along the way. It is the most common base in the wider market and the reason the other three names exist as points of contrast.

None of our current cannabis products is marketed as distillate. The Muha Meds THCA Cartridge 2g and the Muha Meds 2g Disposable are described in our data simply as THCA cannabis extract and cannabis extract respectively, without a process name attached — so we describe them that way too rather than assuming which one applies.

Common questions

Is live resin stronger than distillate?

Those words describe how an extract was made, not how strong it is. We do not publish potency figures for these products because our product data does not carry them.

What are liquid diamonds?

Diamonds are crystalline cannabinoid structures; melting them returns them to a liquid that can fill a device. Our Muha Meds Gen 3 carries 3500mg of THC-A melted diamonds concentrate.

Why does the Gen 3 have three voltage settings?

A thicker extract is the usual reason a device offers voltage control. The Gen 3 lists three settings plus a preheat option.

Which of these products is lab tested?

DOZO states that the Liquid Moon Rocks disposable is third-party lab tested. We repeat manufacturer statements about testing but do not publish report numbers we do not hold.
