The mushroom

Amanita muscaria is a species of mushroom, known commonly as fly agaric. It grows across the northern hemisphere in association with birch and pine, and it is one of the most recognisable fungi in the world — the scarlet cap with white flecks is the mushroom of children's books.

Its active compounds are ibotenic acid and muscimol. Those are the names to know, because they are what distinguishes it from every other category discussed on this site.

What it is not

It is not cannabis. It contains no THCA, no delta-9 THC, no cannabinoids of any kind, and the cannabis warnings that apply to our THC shelf do not apply here.
